A Thousand Dying Suns

you are an arctic wave
as I burn in the heat
of a thousand dying suns
i long for the sharp touch
of your fingertips
to cool my boiling blood
and the feel of your heartbeat
mends my charred bones
heals my blistered skin
but still my lips crack
with the weight of the words
trapped just behind my mouth
blocking my throat
and the struggle to breathe
is exhausting
