Wake up. Alarm clocks ringing.
Sneaks down the hall to miss another day’s confrontation.
Knowing that in the end the confrontation wasn’t even worth it…
But it was only fit for occasion.
Then came persuasion.
Hopeless.
It is heartbreaking.
Times mistaking.
Having a face that some wish only a mother could love.
Squeezing that last line of toothpaste onto the brush.
‘Brushing, brushing, and brushing.’
Getting dressed she throws on her clothes.
Feeling the slightest bit distressed.
Making her way out the bathroom. Down the stairs…
Quivering with every breath she takes.
Every creek she makes.
“Is someone behind me?”
Almost there.
But this isn’t fair…
Not now…
Not then…
Not ever…
Slowly opening the front door trying to not make a sound.
Being pushed down she hits the ground.
Unsafe…
Not a trace…
Misplaced…
Never found.
Although her hear is still beating where she hit surface…
Slowly breaking.
Silent screams never heard…
Silence…I said not a sound.
