Listen
Just listen to the lyrics;
The melody will melt it all away.
Tunes will take away the tremors
And when the last note strikes
Nothing else will matter.
The notes swirl through the air
Drifting down low, like leaves in the fall
Only to be swept back up
By the words on the singer’s breath.
Laying on my back.
Staring at the ceiling
I close my eyes and let the music sink in.
Getting absorbed by every pore.
With this osmosis
It invades my blood stream
Pumping and pulsing in my veins,
Easing my troubled mind.
Thoughts turn
From the everyday drama
And some ever haunting memories
To the passion in the singer’s voice
Raw emotion, more relatable
Than a million metaphors.
So unexplainable.
Even the soulful lyrics do no justice
To the knowing in his voice.
Pitch, so simply beautiful
No words could define its cause.
Yet, that is the beauty in it all.
No matter
Who
What
Or why
Such rightness was created
We all have our own
Who
What
Or why
That causes us to listen,
To sing,
To feel,
To belong,
To forget whatever wrongness that made us all turn to the same thing,
Music.
