The moon is pure, it glows in white
It truly guides us through the night
It even goes through lunar phases
Which dazzles, inspires, and amazes
But the moon does not work alone
The light it shines is not its own
It's a mere reflection of the sun's rays
Which keep us warm and light our days
Although the moon is no source of light
It still has power day and night
Aside from being the dark night's guide
It controls the wondrous ocean's tide
This ball of dust, rocks, and craters
Has the power for something greater
The sun can show off its light at noon
But at night all eyes are on the moon
