I was your puppet
The spotlight was on me,
You loved me, treasured me, and only me
But then she came along and cut the strings
She didn’t do it to save me though
Save me from your controlling ways
She did it because she wanted what I had
She wanted you, wanted you to want her
That poor girl, she doesn’t know what she got herself into
If she knew the truth, if she knew you, the real you
She wouldn’t want it, she wouldn’t want you
But she freed me from you and for that I am grateful
