First Kiss
She shared with me: a charred smile.
lips quivered like crumbling limestone
electric eyes flew open
Springtime-moss eyes, nocturnes set to arise with sunset.
Our irises reflected the florescent glare of security cameras
and glistened with the collected weight of century-old shame.
A first kiss.
Hallway abyss.
We lay on parallel, scrubbed-white walls
Our habitual grins
told the story of:
Pearly teeth constellations, (belonging to)
a girl who spit malice like dragon-fire, (to mask)
the lingering shadow of lies she is guilty of giving,
and stained from receiving.
We watched ourselves with eyes that knew nothing of judgement,
a bird’s eye view of hair blown violently: train wind.
a freight train’s momentum, for the sake of detail.
Boxcars sped by the house.
and it seems to me-
When sadness lingers a year,
trains
pull like magnets.
Padlocked doors:
this is merely a straw house.
And me,
with my churning feet,
I am the Wolf’s Wind.
