Grass With Unbruised Knees
He is a Sugar Maple in early October
When the leaves begin to turn
Eager, little girls gather all around
To admire his beauty
They do not appreciate him
Like I do
He is used for his beauty
Until his beauty is consumed
I am a small piece of grass below him
His towering branches touch the air
He penetrates the clouds
And makes love to the ground, too
He leaves me untouched, untainted and clean
His roots protect me but do not please me
I'm separated from the rest, alone in innocence
He does not soil my purity.

I'm very in love with someone who loves me too, but is pretending to be something he's not. He lets others use him, and he uses them, too. He doesn't touch me but he doesn't let anyone near me.
