Evolution of Sorrow
Sitting on my back porch,
dreaming of blue jays;
hoping maybe I’ll catch one,
if I wait here long enough
with a hand outstretched.
Lying on my kitchen floor,
begging for happiness;
thinking maybe I’ll achieve it
if I lie here forever.
Standing on my rooftop,
thinking of jumping;
supposing it’ll all disappear
if I do.
