Combative Rationality
The quivering fear of losing your sanity
Has been lost in a labyrinth of puzzling calls of hysteria
And the letters piled on top of your desk are as cluttered as your desire for clarity
I stumble through your words of ridiculous
time stopping calls for freedom
You shout with chattering teeth
Because your body is numb from beatings of words
you were told would never hurt
You were dealt a stacked hand
and no amount of counting cards
could get you out of this mess
so when you heard that making lists would calm the mind
you wrote out the names of your enemies in the sand,
but like your memory they washed away with the rising tide
Your mothers eyes may be what you saw the world through,
Yet the clouded vision isn’t because of a foggy perspective,
But rather the tears of an ocean
Making waves in history like a rebellious saint,
still the church steeples could never be high enough
to get you to the gate of heaven
so you remain trapped in a continuous rollercoaster of delirium
