Torn and Frayed
At first what he saw scared him,
Because this was the one who made his pain end.
He raised him from perdition,
And would save him again and again.
Angels were myths to the man,
He had no faith at all.
But he would soon realize then,
That maybe they were both scared to fall.
And all the time the man swore,
That with every passing day,
The coat that the angel wore,
Seemed to increasingly tear and fray.
The man didn't have much left,
The angel was what he needed someone to be.
And that was great except,
The angel desperately wanted to be free.
The man told him he could make his own choices,
And that he could choce free will.
But the angel gave into the voices,
And he was ready to kill.
And all the time the man swore,
That with every passing day,
The coat that the angel wore,
Seemed to increasingly tear and fray.
When the man thought he was completely alone,
The angel never failed to come back.
He never said it, but he was scared to be on his own,
And the angel seemed to realize that.
The angel wanted so badly for the man to be happy,
But along the way he lost his trust.
He just wanted the man to see,
That he did what he thought he must.
And all the time the man swore,
That with every passing day,
The coat that the angel wore,
Seemed to increasingly tear and fray.
The angel tried to make it clear to the man,
That he did it all for him- his friend.
He disobeyed, he rebelled, he took a stand,
And he'd do all of that again.
The man was a hero, but broken, no doubt about that,
And the angel seemed okay at first.
But as he tried to put the man's pieces back,
He realized things were so much worse.
And the man said he really swore,
That after many days,
The coat that his angel wore,
Was completely torn and frayed.
