Stories
Look under your bed and in the closet, for monsters no where to be seen.
When you dream of monsters you may think of, Halloween
But not all monsters are creatures, that are lurking, waiting to strike
And not all monsters look dangerous, and not all look alike
When you think of monsters, you think sharp teeth, and glowing eyes
They take the shape of your very worst fears, and the things that you despise
But have you stopped to wonder is it these things you should fear
Because maybe the real monsters are the people you hold near
When you think of those horrid monsters just stop, and ask yourself why
They cause you to become so very scared, and make you want to cry
Most will say they could eat them, kill them, watch them while they sleep
Some say that monsters do horrible things that would make anyone weep
But you are too young, too innocent, you couldn’t possibly understand
That these things happen everyday, but not in a fairytale land
What you don’t know is people are exactly like the monsters in your dreams
And it won’t be long before you grow up, and your fantasies rip at the seams
You’ll be thrown into a world of chaos, not the one that you knew before
And everyone knows that all you must do is walk through the enchanted door
The horrors you face, will not seem new, but like something you heard long ago
Perhaps a story where monsters terrorize people, and heroes put on a show
The monsters, the goblins, and witches, aren’t what exactly you thought
They’re human, but they do the same horrible things, and somehow you aren’t distraught
Then you remember the stories, the ones you were told as a child
You think about what each one of them taught, and then you stopped and smiled
The stories didn’t tell you dragons existed, of that you already knew
They told you they could be beaten, and that you could make it through
You look back on all of tales you were told, while you were snug in bed
And every one gives you strength to face the road ahead
So now you know there are monsters, and you know that they are real
But you know that you will be ok, no matter what you feel
Cause all your life you have been told, fantastic versions of the truth
They made you scared, but gave you hope all throughout your youth
As long as you never give up, always stand proud, and tall
You can do anything thrown your way, you are a princess, after all

I wrote this as a way o tell others that, yes there are gonna be hard times, and, yes they are going to suck. But there is always a way to fight through the hard times, and find happiness again.
