It was a quick love
One that lasted until sun down
And could not bring itself to rise
Other boys had pricked my heart
But failed to draw blood
He pulled scarves of red from its veins
And tied them around his neck for all to see
Flaunting just how deadly a man can be

Blue eyes, enchanting irises
Sparkling like a fairy’s wings
An ocean, so alluring
Drawing me in only to have me sink
Pulled under and left to rot, the tide’s grip at my ankles
My lungs filled and my heart held still
Unbeating and cold in the palm of your hand
A terrifyingly dangerous love no one will understand

He cuffed me and pulled me along
Bringing me into the center of the dance floor
Music twinkling like stars in the background
The only thing I could hear was the rapid beating beneath my chest
Reverberating around my ribs and stretching my skin with each thump
His dainty hand caressed my skin as my eyes drank in his defined features
Intoxicated on his beauty I stumbled into heartbreak’s den
Cursing the heavens for letting this love begin…

Begging for the aching in my chest to finally end
