I slip forward. His grip tightens around my wrist, pulling me back to the pavement. Like in a
trust fall he catches me. His grin widens. A beam of sunshine hits his teeth causing a shimmer of light
that illuminates the forest floor, as a melody rings out from the tree tops. We walk forward, our hands
clasped ever so tightly. Our love seems to create a warmth that is absorbed by the ground. We walk
forward, the atmosphere changes with each step. Barren trees gain life with each embrace. Tiny leaves
sprout with each kiss. We walk forward. the water beside us sparkles like his crystal blue eyes. I dip my
toes. The cold water sends a rush through my veins. He places his hand upon my shoulder to ease my
shivering body. We splash on the shore, the water like our love, washes me new. Nature and love are
very similar. They both have a way of disconnecting us from the stress of life and connecting us to the
important things or the important ones. In this moment of bliss I feel my emotions more intensely than
ever before, I gaze upon the beauty surrounding us. I hear the whistle of the wind and the bird chorus
rehearsing above me. There is no one but him, me and mother nature’s greatest creation. We walk
forward. The end of the trail is near. As we leave the protective bubble that the forest provides, I can
hear children screaming in the distance. The warmth and beauty begins to dissolve, uncovering a the
grungy city we call home. But indeed the only place that will ever truly be home is in his arms. And as
reality begins to set back in, we walk forward, ready to face the world together.
