During the rut
antlers act as battle axes
smashing and thrashing.
During the rut
soft fur like silk
allows quiet travel to the next fight.
During the rut
whitetail like a warning flag
signaling another buck trying to take control.
During the rut
sharp hooves like shovels
provides digging to claim territory.
During the rut
sensitive ears like an alarm
allows nothing to sneak up on it.
The rut
provides life and death
like war.
