Dear Grandpa
I go to your house but I don’t see you there
Laying on the couch where you were forced to be
The disease inside not going away, only getting worse
The numbness you felt all over your body
The feeling like when somebody makes their arm fall asleep
Which only makes me love and respect you even more
From running marathons to barely being able to walk to the kitchen
Not being able to fish and hunt as often as you used to
It’s was hard to watch you hike up the hill of health and
the boulder of disease only knocking you back down
I remember the day I saw you laying there
the doctors putting a gray coat on you
our family members crying, not able to stop
but who would be at a time like that
I’m sorry I wasn’t there, at Regions with you
Going there just would’ve been harder for me
