He walks the hallways
cowering as words fly
from them…
pig
coward
loner
ugly
loser
freak
four eyes…
Pencils, pens, wads of paper,
notebooks, erasers, and scissors
all sprout wings.

*BBRRINNGG!!!*

Hood up, eyes darting,
nervous, tensed
as they swarm in through the classroom door
like bees…
piggy
loser
freak…
Making himself as small
as possible as
words trample him.

Then a flash of smile
from them as words
mist down on him…
you aren’t a coward; you are courageous
you’re not a loner; you have friends around you
you’re not a pig; you’re just big boned
you’re not ugly; you’re unique in your own way
you’re not a loser; you’re a winner
you’re not a freak; you’re normal
you don’t have four eyes; you have two and two pieces of glass to look through
Hugs, laughter, kisses,
high fives, cheers, tears
floats down.
Hood down, eyes smiling
calm, relaxed
as they whisper words
like a gentle breeze
after a storm that
has created havoc…
you’re not the pig; they just have a small appetite
you’re not the loser; they’re just the dud
you’re not the freak; they’re just the anomaly
Making himself as big
as possible as the
words build him up.

I've seen people where they are like a shadow to everyone's steps.

Love this. Words have so much power to help or to hurt. Great job.
