Explosions of color
Explosions of color fill the yards
the smell of wood burning
as marshmallows roast.
Kids jump and play in the leaves
all in a pile as more fall from the trees.
It’s chilly but warm in the sun
Everyone is happy and laughing.
Days go by
the colors disappear.
As the days get shorter
the air turns crisp
biting at ankles when they walk outside
When everybody wakes up one morning
and see their yards covered in a blanket of frost.
Everything turned to white.
