A Thousand Mountains

January 28, 2015

I've tried to build a thousand mountains
On my own
But all I've done is tear a thousand down
I used to scale the highest hills
hoping
that once up there I'd finally see
But I was stuck in the shadows
Tripped over my own feet
Broken by my own doing
The mountains seemed too high
for me to ever scale or build
on my own
But thousands of years ago
Jesus wanted me so much
loved me so fully
that He was crushed and murdered
by His own will
just to heal our relationship
and give a hand to me
I'll never build a thousand mountains
on my own
But wretch as I am, all my wrong has been pardoned
My tears wiped away with His blood
My scars washed away with His love
He scaled the mountains for me
thousands and thousands of them
just so I could be with Him
for always and forever
I'd call that a beautiful love story
Better than any romances I've heard
For when I hated him
ignored him
He loved me with all of Himself
And was killed
because I could never scale the mountain
that leads to Him
on my own

The author's comments:

Nobody can ever please Jesus by "building or scaling mountains." We are all sinners, and yet God loves us with a burning passion and sent His son Jesus to die and literally kill our sins on a cross. If you repent and turn from your sins, Jesus will make you a new person and you will be born again in Him!
