Don't Die
  I run across
  the street;
  screeching with joy
The short walk to the bridge
  halted
  as Lindsey slowly
  climbed the outside of the bridge;
  over the deep lake
  and inched towards
  the other end
  I climbed on quickly,
  smiling,
  as i inched
  slower than everyone.
  You stood there
  your words dripping with
  concern.
  Don’t die!
  you screeched
  Don’t die!
  I laughed
  joyfully.
Your concern causing not even a
  flinch.
  You anxiously ran to
  the other end.
  And back.
  Watching me make
  my way
  slowly
  You gasped
  as my hand
  slipped.
  My concentration
  broke
  and I was
  hanging.
  You screamed
  and the others
  ran towards us.
  Still hanging.
  I slowly
  pulled myself.
  Up
  Breathing heavily
  I made
  my way
  across the
  bridge
  to the
  other side.
  I launched
  my feet
  back
  onto the
  cool grass
  the adrenaline
  still running through me
  As we walked back
  across the bridge,
  the normal way,
  I looked to you
  and smiled.
  Wasn’t that
  just great?
