Chernobyl
Portray your neighborhood
Subtle, a benign wind
In the womb of your settlement
Now leave, leave right now
Run
Was the TV on?
Were you eating dinner?
Exodus without notice
Bed not pampered, curtains
nimbly dancing to the earth’s breath
A moment numb in time
An absence of human habitation
A spasmodic nuclear curse
that exterminated the life
of that land and that neighborhood
Complete annihilation
As if someone effaced the chess pieces
across the board
Science is our achilles heel
The terrible world is revealing itself

I've had a real fascination with Chernobyl Ukraine and the nuclear catastrophe that took place there in the 80's. How all life there just vanished and everybody left. I guess that's what happens when you play with technology you don't fully understand
