Caged Bird

Stretched wings soared across the sky
There were few things on Earth as brazen
Never worrying about a nest to lie
Eyes always fixed on the next horizon

Trapped and forced into a cage
Turned into a product for someone to buy
Wondering if things will remain like this until old age
Until they will have outlived there use and be allowed to die

Imprisoned, all morale is shattered,
Stuck listening to the pitter-patter
As each drop of rain falls and splatters,
Washing away memories that will never come to matter

Stretched wings press up against metal wire
A feather floats silently to the floor
A bird's will to fly free is gone with it's internal fire
When there is nothing left to fly for anymore
