If Only
If only I could go back in time
When things were so easy,
And I was so happy.
Like a little kid on Christmas morning
Waking up to find the so many gifts under the giant tree,
All red, green, and silver.
If only I could go back in time.
I would change so much.
Who I spent my time with,
The wrong words that I had said to those I love,
And the honesty that I had not given to those who deserved it most.
If only I could go back in time.
I could make everything as easy as it had once been,
As easy as laughter comes after hearing a great joke,
Or as easy as tears fall after you lose one you love.
If only I could go back in time.
Then I could still be like that child on Christmas,
And everything could still be like laughing after a joke.
If only I could go back in time.
But I cannot, and I am not, and everything is not.
If only.
