If I am ever to disappoint you
Listen to what I have to say
Let my words coil around your ears
Like white noise
Dripping down your spine
Until you’re standing in a pool
Of the things I should have said
Don’t be afraid when I tell you
I’m going to incubate myself
Let me molt into the man I should have been
Before
I will rise from that pool
Reaching for the coils around your ears
Hoping
That this new flesh
Will be worth an apology
