Tubing Catastrophe

December 19, 2014

I stood at the top, peering down the icy hill
Adrenaline pumped through my veins with anticipation
Slowly I placed the inner tube beneath me and sat upon it
I pushed off and I began to accelerate down the slope
Faster and faster I went
The ground was completely iced over
At the bottom of the hill there was a mound to stop people from going into the trees
As I neared the end of the hill I realized that I wasn’t slowing down
Naturally I panicked and tried to grab at the ground, of course this was fruitless
Finally, I flew over the mound and thought this is it
I was in the trees, everything was quiet
The only thing going through my mind was the fact I was speeding up
Thats a problem when theres trees around
Suddenly I jerked, the world did a 180, and I found myself upside down
My first thought was that I wasn’t dead
Then it dawned on me that I must’ve hit a tree
“Parker!” My friends distantly shouted
I realized I should respond or else they’d think I was dead
So with some difficulty I managed to shift myself into a sitting position
I called to my friends and they were relieved to see that I was okay
That day I learned to appreciate life
Because you never know when its your last day
