This River

With a complexion like glass
The icy river foams and jumps
In a spiral that doesn’t end
Watch, and you can see, the water, it can dance
The overlapping bubbles make me laugh
The chill tickles my toes, trying to get inside me, and freeze

But I’m not one to freeze
I won’t shatter like glass
I won’t fall apart, instead I will laugh
I won’t be the one who falls, I’m the one who jumps
I will jump into every moment, and join in the dance
Under this moon, I will dance until the end

Will this winding river ever end?
Will it ever completely freeze?
Or will these little bubbles dance
Forever, over this glass?
Staining it with every jump
Will it continue to gurgle and make us laugh?

It comes from your eyes, a laugh
I can see your happiness that doesn’t end
Your eyes glitter like the shooting star that jumps
Across the deep sky, I want to freeze
This moment, and put it behind glass
Like a photograph of your soul’s dance

I remember, we used to dance
We used to laugh
Your presence was like a looking glass
You helped me see the meaning of things, even if the end
drew near, you were always here, your love could never freeze
You cradled me in your arms through my life’s twisted bumps and jumps

You dance beautifully, little spins and jumps
I can see, that here comes our last dance
Before this river will freeze
You and me, our smiles haven’t faded, but a kind laugh
Is scarce in this bitter world, me and you, we know this isn’t the end
Because your love’s too strong to shatter like glass

A tear is a drop of shattered glass that jumps into this river when you have been melted too much to smile
It’s okay if you cry in the end, but the most important part is to dance your way through
A bitter laugh can cut your skin but you are not one to freeze
