Baby Boy
Falling with the autumn leaves went the day
the hour
the sticky cups of yogurt forgotten
the far away swish of doctors’ coats
standing right next to me. My eyes didn't know
whether to shut or to water,
my heart
wanted to reach out and close around his scrunched eyes,
his balled up fists,
his curled toes,
and beat,
beat,
beat,
with nothing but him warming the space.
