We gather around the stone
Heat pushing off onto us
mosquitoes trying to nip us

Someone brings out a platter
It is full of heavenly foods
the chocolate
ready for melting
the marshmallows
with sticks beside them
and graham crackers
to hold it all together

I grab a stick
scoot to the edge of my chair
closer to the roaring fire
I feel the flames turning my face red

The marshmallow grows in size
it turns brown
signaling to me its ready

I put the chocolate onto the graham cracker
and smoosh the marshmallow in
the warmth of it melting the chocolate

It heads for my mouth
The stickiness oozing out
globbing onto my hands and face
the sweetness forming onto my tongue

I finish
Wipe my face
and head for the platter again
ready for more

My writing was inspired by my lake house. I go there every summer with my family and friends.
