Fear of Significance
My thought consume me
They tell me,
“We are insignificant.”
The facts overwhelm me,
For you and I,
We,
Are insignificant.
Space surrounds us,
Traps and conquers us.
No thought or consciousness,
We are insignificant.
Few rise above in our world.
Our speck.
We worship them but
They are insignificant.
Some work hard
Fighting for power
Fighting for wealth
For youth
For significance.
For all you or I know…
We are the only life.
The vast universe is empty.
For all we know,
We are significant.
To whose standards do we measure our significance?
For who decides if we are nothing?
Important to whom?
Significant to what?
Are we not important?

I look around and see people interact in their everyday lives and always wonder what makes someone feel significant.
