The Girl of Two Faces
  Everyday you see me
  And I’m carefree
  Funny
  Charismatic
  Smiling
  Caring
But you don’t see the real me.
The real me hides behind the happy facade,
Watching distantly through her own eyes
As she puts on the best show of her life.
  Good show!
  But when I’m alone
  behind the curtain
  I’m none of those things.
  I’m lonely
  Desperate
  Aching
  Lost
  Broken
  Everyday I wake up
  And put my face on.
  My life face,
  The face you all see.
  And my real face,
  The real me,
  Is crying out beneath
  Desperate to be heard,
  To be seen.
  But I cover her up,
  Bury her way down deep
under the suffocating cheerfulness of my Second Face.
