As Free As a Bird
The Ocean roars and crashes against the shore in a challenge for me, its icy peaks hypnotizing me.
Seagulls scream and glide through the air looking for fish.
Sand dunes slouch along the shoreline, protecting the island.
Azure blue skies stretch across the heavens with puffy, white clouds hanging from the sky.
Does anyone feel the power of energy of the ocean as I do?
Sunlight bounces off the ocean, blinding me in its glare.
Golden sand beams like a spotlight in the heat, warming my feet.
The wind whispers to me as it tousles my hair.
Does the salty air fill them with joyous excitement, as it does to me?
Bare feet pound against the hard packed sand.
Broken shells crunch beneath my feet as I run along the shoreline.
Laughter floats through the air in this magical place.
Do they feel as free as I do, standing on the sandy shores of Tybee?
As I stand in Tybee Island’s icy cold ocean, I feel free, as if I could launch myself into the sky and fly along the pounding surf.
