Never Forget
How you once were a part of Maggie and Mothers Life
Times Changed
As things got more modern, you wanted nice things
Like the Yellow Orangey dress
Dee is your name
Wangero Leewanika Kemajo is what you wanted
Ashamed of a name coming from your family history
Slavery
Abandon Ma and Maggie
They do not care
Dee or Wangero
It’s in the past
Be proud of who you are
Never forget your heritage

The story " Everyday Use " is what inspired me to write this poem. In my writing class we did activities based on the stories we read. Such as " Everyday Use"by Alice Walker.
