Blank Papers
I walk this path I've known
Littered with crumpled paper balls
That I stuff, I cram into my chest
Where the bugs can eat them all
And the paper becomes empty
And the words all fall apart
And I clutch the empty space
Inside my chest, inside my heart
Birdies rest in all the paper
And the birdies strike a match
And it starts a smoky fire
And the papers quick to catch
When I go to pick up paper
To plug up the hole once more
I find paper's blankness
And the words are ripped and torn
So I'm asking for new words now
To rest inside this hole
The words I have, I've had so long
They weigh upon my soul
