They hide in the shadows of the night
stalking their prey in silence
but you have nothing to fear
for you are not their target
assassins are credited as thieves, and traitors
but some of them kill for complicated reasons
as they are in the dark, an evil shines in the light
pretended to be a friend, a neighbor, or lover
they deceive you with lies, claiming peace or protection
but once you turn your back, you’re slaughtered with deception
