Welcome Home
Stumbling, staggering, speechless
Her feet and voice were incapable of the urges to sprint and scream
Into the arms of her husband as he walked across the floor to see her
for the first time in two years.
All she could do was sob as the tears seeped into the ragged greenish-grey uniform,
melting into him as he wrapped his arms around her
Thump a thump pounded in her ears as her heart hammered out of her chest.
She was a proud wife surrounded by a crowd of soldiers,
Wounded, lost, and looking for the ones they love.
Embraced by love and open arms,
It was time to finally go home.
