Centralia
My passion began
a hot flame of desire
I wanted to be close
closer to the joy
the humans were so happy
running atop the mine
building lives, building homes.
I made smores with the children
and money with the parents
we built the city together
but I am the one that caused its demise.
As the city grew
I grew as well
my distress signal only repelling
what I desired most
they ran from me
and my desire turned into distruction
I devoured their homes
their city
their whole lives.
A passionate rage,
fueled by hurt feelings.
Or as they saw it,
by antheatic cole.

Centralia is a city in Pensylvania the sits on top of a coal mine. In 1962 a fire started, setting the coal a blaze. The fire has burned ever since. I worte this poem from the fires point of view, giving the flame emotion and purpose.
