One Voice
The calling of a nearby train
It speaks like a once-close soul,
Whispering my name
Shouting my name
It interrupts the clicking
Rumble, screech
But it is not powerful enough
And it doesn’t bring me closer to the tracks
It doesn’t move her off the tracks
But at least it was there, right?
At least it tried, we tell ourselves
In that last moment
We were the ones who chose not to hear it.
