Winter
The temperature drops
All the leaves blown off by Fall
In the morning, the children come to play
In the fresh fallen snow
That looks like a plush, soft blanket
Hugging the Earth
They build a snowman
Who is then wrapped up
In that old scarf and tophat
He smiles and watches
As the children laugh and play
And go o'er the hills on a sleigh
And have a snowball fight
That lasts all day
After they have gone away
The snowflakes fall
Each perfect, each unique
In their own way
The frost gently cloak the trees
Making them glisten
Under the Moon
Which shines over
The frozen lake's surface
That is smooth as silk
Until the drawings of various shapes
Made from the shoes that danced
On the surface
In the sky
The northern lights sway
And highlight the stars
With a mix of purple, green, and blue
That can be seen
For miles around
But when this comes to an end
The children look sad
As the snowman begins to melt
He continues to smile
And says there's nothing to fear
For I will be back again
Next year.
