As the sun comes up, I’m already out
Tap, Tap
Dew on the ground, misty fog in the cool air,
The sounds of the morning whistling by with a
Tap, Tap, Tap
Tree by tree, I repeat my call,
My wings wide, I soar through the forest with ease,
awakening the forest bit by bit with my
Tap, Tap, Tap, Tap
As the morning moves, my job steadies,
With the dazzling crown on my head
and my ivory beak made of steel,
The jackhammer pounds time and time again with a
Tap, Tap, Tap
A streak of white shoots down my back
as my feet grasp and bark on each new specimen,
The morning turns to day, and still
Tap, Tap
The sound drones on as day turns to night,
Yet the endless beat continues until finally
Tap
I await till morning light.
