Accidents
soggy socks
yes, wet wool
clinging to my feet
it wasn’t meant to be this way,
you see, but i slipped
and fell in (unpinned)
wishity wash
but even though my white socks were wet
i realized they had not changed their color
they were not turned black
from the rivers soil, but
instead only a little damp
i know i can hang them up to dry
tomorrow
and they’ll be as good as new
a simple fix
life goes on, and
i’ll remember this incident
the next time i’m
down by the river
the river
that never stops running
