Constant reeling
1 a.m. For what I said
   2 a.m. For a friend I can't keep fixing
3 a.m. Because of the anxiety in its beginning stages
4 a.m. I'm not going to be rested for class
5 a.m. might as well start homework
   6 a.m. I need to get around
7 a.m. An obnoxiously loud bus ride
8 a.m. Geometry, and longing to rest for just a moment
9 a.m. Biology and deep purple beginning to pool under my eyes
10 a.m. Psychology, dragging to stay in the conscious state
11 a.m. Creative writing, finally feeling halfway alive
Noon. English 2, reading and writing poetry
1 p.m. World history, sleep exhaustion setting back in
2 p.m. Yearbook, Trying to keep from getting drawn all over
3 p.m. ELA, the clock mocking me
4 p.m. Practice, yearning for it to end before it's even started
5 p.m. Practice winding down, the clock still mocks me
   6 p.m. Home at last
7 p.m. Blaring loud music to keep from drowning in the dirty dish water
8 p.m. Homework, clock mocking me once more
9 p.m. more loud music to keep from passing out in the shower
   10 p.m. "Bed time"
   11 p.m. Still awake
   Midnight. Wide awake, Constantly reeling
    Sleep evading me
     Clocks mocking
    But who needs sleep?
The monsters are in my head now
The ones our parents always tell us about
Now I know that sleep is not my problem
    Relief from the so-called monsters
That is what is causing sleep to betray my being
    Every minute
     Every hour
    Every day
