they used to dream of you
There were moments
When they looked at you
With eyes like emeralds
Hearts of lions
Roaring with pride
You were their miraculous sun
And their glowing moon
There are moments
When they look at you
And everything is in suspense
Eyes tight like coils
Hands shaking with apprehension
They are hiding in caves
So their sun does not burn them
There will be a moment
When they will look at you
Eyes grasping for hope
Searching desperately
For redemption
Their sun’s light no longer reaches them
Their moon has waned into a shadow
