Survival
I have been instructed
All my life
To work my hardest and achieve my goals
But time has shown me
That it isn’t always quite so simple
Its is like wishing the sun will shine
When the sky is corpulent with snow
Working hard will take you a long way, but not all the way
Sometimes you fail.
Some say I’m filled with nonsense
They importune me with questions about my grades
or where I want to go to college
or what I want to do.
And most times, I’m just not sure.
All I can focus on now is the present
I grit my teeth and work hard now for a better later
I see the world scene through an orange lens
Orange being the color of survival
I want to achieve, but mostly, I want to survive
I want to survive the questions
I want to survive the present
I want to survive my senior year.
