The Feast

Their decaying bodies walk through the deteriorating city.
They crave flesh and their heads are mindless.
One sees your living soul and raises it’s mangled hands, reaching
And letting out a ferocious roar from behind its jaws.
The creature's disfigured face now inches away from yours.
You restrain the monster from sinking its teeth into your skin.
The creature smells of rotting flesh,
Its face is a vision of death.
Its hot breath upon your petrified face.
As you struggle for life,
The horde joins the feast.
Your screams of pain and agony become muffled
Under the thick blanket of undead groans tearing you
Piece by piece, sounds of succulent flesh echoing through the street.
They munch ominously on the fresh warm meat soaked in blood,
Leaving only scattered bones and fragments of cloth.

Valiant Heart
You charge through the evil noise
of artillery, tanks, and planes.
You run through the trenches of hell
with thick black smoke weighing
down from above.
The people around you fall like the pretty but
frail Autumn leaves.
Men are blown apart and flung into the air.
But still, you charge onward because
the price of losing would be far greater
than the lose of your dear friend.
Piles of bodies so big and numerous,
they provide cover for the oncoming bullets.
Hands bloodied as you maneuver your way
Through, waist deep in corpses.
But out of the red, a hand reaches your shoulder.
You manage to pull him out, he’s just a kid.
And he’s mortally injured with tears of fear
screaming out of his eyes.
You lay him down
and ask him a few questions.

Do you remember your parents?
Yes.
Do you remember their smiles?
Do you remember the times when they
made you feel safe?
Yes. Yes.
That's what you hold on to.
That's what you have done for other people.
You've given them safety.
Your the Hero. You won.
And thanks to you,
You have stopped the world from creating
more people like us.
And no one will have to be scared anymore.
Now go back to your parents.
Their having a welcome back party for you
and everyone is going to be there.
Family, Friends, even your high school crush.
You deserve it.

As the mans life fades to paradise,
You toss his body out of the way.
And continue to charge headlong into oblivion.
