A Fate Worse Than Death
Do not pity
the dead. They do not
fear pain. They do not fear dying
again. They do not fear anymore.
How long does a living human spend
Wondering how and when they may
die. Abruptly or painfully?
Will they die peacefully
or cruelly? Gratified that their
miserable life is finally over?
Or dreaded as they are leaving
their only life with nothing?
Only the dead can
know.
What about the immortal?
How lonely it must be.
Watching everyone’s lives
expire before their eyes.
No friends. No close family.
Not being able to end
their bitter life.
It is not meant
for people to be immortal.
It is the worst torture
anyone can endure.
It is inhumane.
Will they continue to age?
Or will they be paralyzed
until someone grants
them mercy?
Or will they stay young?
Not spending their entire life
with the one they love.
Immortality is something
one should never wish upon
themselves or their
worst enemy.
People fear dying.
They should fear living
instead.
