Cracks in the Sidewalk
People are like sidewalks,
Broken in some places,
and cracked in others.
hard to fix, but not impossible.
The cracks are sealed over,
But the hurt goes deeper,
And the cracks remain,
Beaten beneath the constant abuse,
And still dealing out pain.
The broken pieces
Are torn out of the ground,
Completely mangled, and destroyed.
The healing process for it is slow and delicate,
Taking a long time to do.
And the slightest set back,
Or provocation,
Could ruin the whole thing.
It leaves a lasting impact,
And is never quite brand new.
The cracks and broken pieces
Are never truly fixed,
For no one can take something that was broken
And make it new again,
Not even cracks in the sidewalk.
