Poem One:
I wake up to hear knocking on glass.
At first
I thought it was the window,
until I heard it come
from the mirror
again.
So I stepped up, and walked
to myself,
and asked what I wanted now;
plain and simple,
face to face,
again.
To be cuter, taller, thinner;
anything else
than what I am now,
because I am not good enough
I tell myself,
again.
So I grab my father’s gun:
shaking, crying;
I tell myself this is right.
I point to myself and shoot.

And the glass shatters.
I am free.

Poem Two:
If only
I hadn’t said those words,
maybe you wouldn’t have
stormed out
in a drunken rage,
and forgotten your phone
to call for help.
If only
I hadn’t pushed you,
maybe you would have
taken the time to hear
me finish my sentence with,
“Because I love you.”
If only
I hadn’t wished you were gone from my life,
maybe the moon
would have reflected off
your tears.

Maybe-
Just maybe,
the driver might have stopped.
?
Poem Three:
Just a picture:
dark,
like a secret kept
for a lifetime.

She lies there
like a doll
tossed onto the bed,
so sweet and still.

This moment might fade,
but a photo lasts longer.
Maybe if I take one
she’ll know I was here.

How I love her,
even though
I’ve never even
said hello.

How long I’ve waited
to get this close,
even if she
isn’t aware.

My love lies sweetly
in a bed of safety,
away from me,
but yet I am here.

And with this photo;
this moment:
dark,
like a secret-
finally,
after all this time
of hiding like a shadow,
she will know.

I am here,
Darling.
I love you.
And I always will.
