Humanity
When the sky is the darkest
And the stars dont shine
There is a beast
Who lingers inside
Never sleeping
Always there
Beasts are creeping
Everywhere
Without a soul
They continue to kill
As if it was dull
Scouring the forest
Hunting for more
Never enought
For that is the lore
When the smoke clears
And nothing stirs
There is a man
Drapped in furs
Always hunting
Never still
Tracking the beast
That causes the thrill
Soundless steps
Through the lair
Following tracks
Sniffing the air
He finds the beast
And doesn't dare
Looking into the eyes
He sees something small
A shimmer of fear
Or maybe nothing at all
His hand snaps up
Reaching for the bow
Almost there
Time to get low
Nocking the arrow
He lowers his gaze
Although small and narrow
A baby beast lays
He cannot do it
For it is not his way
Humanity saved two lives that day

I was reading a story right before this and became inspired. I could practically feel the words flowing out of my fingertips.
