Fishing Hole
The day started bright as light.
The sun rising draws my attention
To the sky. It’s deep blue, without
A single cloud. I’m walking, towards the long
Frozen lake. Snow blowing like
The leaves of fall. The ice is as thick
As a brick around this time of year. I can
See my breath. It feels both cold and hot. I
Really enjoy ice fishing. I head out to my secret spot.
I get in my shanty to set up. I set up on the east side
Of Walters Lake. I drill the hole and drop a line. Seconds later I
I real up a mighty bass. All slimy and squirming as I pull it up.
I just keep pulling them up.
Its complete madness. I can real
Them in with tremendous ease. They
Call me the master caster.
