Fourth of July afternoon—
Surrounded by an array of flora!
I feel unmoved.

I stare down the bright yellow
Eye of a newly bloomed daisy
Neither of us blink.

I see a rabbit
Covered in snow white fur,
That moves as if it had roller skates for feet.

Dandelions in the field
Like people,
Swept up, and thrown into a new place.

I stayed out,
All day
Without concern.

Eighteenth Birthday:

I can see the sky as clearly
As my future.

Don’t fret over the
Rats,
My house is usually clean.

This beef just doesn’t taste
American made.

Lemon yellow summer sun,
Bugs sweating from the summer heat.

This poem is an emmulation poem after a Robert Hass poem. My main goal was to convey a story through imagery.
