Kaleidoscope Strangers
The young girl stood among the crowd
Dazed by the images she had seen before her
The woman playing a flute on a bridge
Over rainbow-tinted water which flowed
Quickly beneath her feet
The champion who won the war
In hope that his face would be
Recognized by those who knew him
Before
The cowboy with the magical lasso
Which was used to
Rope the girl back
To reality
The girl finds herself lying in bed
Awake
She longs to see these people who lived
In her dreams

I wrote this poem after completing an activity in my creative writing class where we had to go around the school and write down words that compelled us.
